Explore Macedon Ranges

“Come and share the beauty of my home region and spend the day in leafy Macedon. Experience Foxx & Beagle and then make the most of the day by visiting some of the stunning local sites and scenery, or just kick back and enjoy some award-winning restaurants and wineries a stone’s throw from the salon.”

Mount Towrong Cellar Door

Enjoy some really, really good wine at this family owned and operated vineyard nestled in the heart of the Macedon Ranges. Spend an afternoon making your way through generous wine tastings and Italian style platters in direct view of Mount Macedon and Mount Towrong.

Mount Towrong wines are a little different; grapes are handpicked and organically farmed with no pesticides or herbicides used. The winery also practices sustainable farming techniques, and have been able to harvest high quality grapes with a low yield.

Mount Macedon Winery

Mount Macedon Winery is the perfect place to discover why the Macedon Ranges have long been considered a foodie destination. Set in picturesque Mount Macedon, the winery boasts panoramic views, beautiful ceremony gardens and versatile indoor and outdoor spaces. Enjoy a glass of wine and order from the seasonal menu which features an abundance of local produce.

Owners Dylan and Elisha penned this open letter describing why they swapped city life for the rolling hills and leafy streets of Macedon;

“... Watching visitors discover a love of the outdoors, eat fresh produce from our region and taste wine from grapes we grow onsite never gets old. It has been a steep learning curve and there is never a dull moment, but we love what we do. It really is as simple as that. We look forward to meeting you at Mount Macedon Winery very soon” - Dylan Grimes and Elisha Rodriguez

Mr. Cafe

All day breakfast? Tick.
All day Allpress coffee? Tick.
Smashed avo that can rival Melbourne’s top cafes? Tick.

This all-day cafe serves the goods any time you need. Delightfully cosy, and located just 100 meters from the Foxx & Beagle salon, Mr. is a Macedon and Gippsland favourite with a refreshingly good menu. Whether you’re after a seriously good coffee, a sneaky raw treat, or a fresh brekky (Foxx & Beagle favourite = Smashed Avo), Mr. has you covered.

Mount Macedon Trading Post

The Mt Macedon Trading Post is the hub of the Mt Macedon community, specialising in excellent coffee, homemade scones, award-winning pies, tempting cakes, local produce, wines and beautiful giftware. The cafe menu was created with an emphasis on locally sourced, fresh seasonal ingredients and features homemade preserves made from their organic vegetable garden.

Swing past the Trading Post for a light lunch, or to pick up some souvenirs of the food and wine variety made by the Mount Macedon Kitchen.

Macedon Pub

Join the locals for a beer, wine, or hearty pub meal at the Historic Macedon Railway Hotel. Located in the heart of the Macedon Ranges directly across from the Foxx & Beagle salon - it’s almost too convenient!

Under blue skies, we recommend the beer garden. Sit back with your choice of beverage in hand and experience the breathtaking views of Mount Macedon. In the colder months, grab a seat in front of the open fire and settle in for a few wines - you might even be lucky enough to choose a night with a local bluegrass band playing in the background.

Also, rumour has it the Prince of Wales once stayed here and ordered a parma.

SCENIC EXPERIENCES

The Macedon Ranges offers some of the most amazing views and scenery Victoria has to offer. Wander the streets of sleepy towns, or plan an bush walk and drink in some of that crisp country air. The ‘Macedon Experience’ is what you make it; fill up your time with activities and events, or sit back and let the beauty of the area softly roll over you.

For those who want to take in the fresh country air, the Ranges have some intermediate to advanced walking and cycling tracks that will get you into the real heart of Macedon. Hanging Rock (famous thanks to the movie Picnic at Hanging Rock) is only 12 minutes’ drive from the salon. It is a rare volcanic formation over 6 million years old.

Experiences vary from the Memorial Cross situated at the summit of the mountain that was erected to commemorate those who gave their lives in the 1914-1918 war. 1001 meter above sea level guarantees amazing views. Drop in and have a tea or coffee at the top of the range café and gallery located next to the cross. On your ascent to the cross, look out for the amazing architecture and country homes with open gardens to visit and experience.
